Hello everyone.I'm new to your site here and forgive me if this has been posted before, but I wasn't pulling it up on the search. My question is,what do I need to get started?

I am soon to purchase a new IMac and intend to get the Amplitube Fender package and after seeing that it comes with riffworks and looking at the product and the tutorial,it looks more user friendly than pro tools. So,I would like to use riffworks for my recording needs. Is there any other things I need to get to use this program.I would give examples, but the only recording I know about is Audacity.I don't know what other things you need to run things.

Secondly,I have a copy of EZ Drummer. Will that program work with riffworks?

Thanks in advance, and sorry if this has been covered before.

Cant comment on the Mac as I've always been a pc man but definitely the more ram the better (It irons out glitchy joins between riffs as you play along the song line)

Toneport / Pod Studio UX2, double thuimbs up from me ( I reckon the only diffference between the 2 is one has a red front and the other one don't ;))

I always had latency problems with Amplitube and have done 90% of my stuff using Line 6 Gearbox (Virtually Zero Latency. Which you should get free with UX2 ??)

Condenser mic (48v Phantom Power) with shockmount is good, I use Samson C01 http://www.amazon.com/Samson-C01-Diaphragm-Condenser-Microphone/dp/B0002D080C
but you can get excellent results with a Shure SM58, for instance.

Quite a few guys are raving about these KRK's

You might like to check them out too

Better save some cash though as new guys here have to buy the beer :P

I hate to hear that, because the Fender package by IK is the one I most want to explore.Hopefully it will work for me.

I was too impatient to fiddle about with Amplitube, I understand you can get better results by tweaking buffer settings etc :)

Don't matter where you get the beer from , long as it's spelt MMMMmmmmmBEER ;)

Good to see another Riff Junkie from Georgia. Whereabouts are you at? I'm in Cornelia.

Regarding the IK stuff - sorry to say, but all of it that I've tried has had terrible latency, despite many hours of fiddling (and the fact that my machine FAR surpasses the minimum system requirements). I've given up on it.

Like everyone else has said, the Line 6 stuff really does work the best. Basically no latency at all. Granted, IK has some great sounding models, but if ya can't get it to work, what's the point?

If you're like me and recording in a spare bedroom, your choice in monitors should do quite nicely. And since you have a UX2, you can use GearBox or PodFarm (both free downloads).

Howdy neighbor.I'm just up the road from you in Hiawassee.I don't have the ux2,that is just what I had kind of narrowed things down to.I was looking for anyone who had experience to weigh in and let me know if I was on the right track,or offer any suggestions on a good start up system. The above list is just what I'm thinking about purchasing.
A bit of a bummer to hear that about the IK pack.I am a Fender guy and think very little sounds as pleasing to my ear as a Fender guitar played through Fender amps, and was intrigued at getting to play around with all the classic amp models. But in truth, not much beats a real amp,and if my wife doesn't squawk too much at my gear porn,I may just get a Blues Jr. or Princeton 15w for recording and just mic it.
That is if I can sell this peavey valve king 212 combo I have first.=D
