Hey guys,

I know that a number of you have been expressing frustration with the info layers disappearing. I've spoken to the engineers, and apparently they have experienced this on occasion when they were first testing the most recent RiffWorks builds. You guys are just getting so good at RiffWorks that you are starting to notice more little things like this. : )

The problem is that this is a really hard bug to test or troubleshoot because we can't simulate this behavior. The engineers are really focusing on the back end of RiffWorld, so a bug like this isn't going to be top priority until other projects are finished. The more information that we are able to provide the engineers, the more likely it is that this issue is going to be resolved.

Our first recommendation is, if your info layer disappears when you load the song, to simply close RiffWorks without saving. Relaunch RiffWorks and open the song again. Is the info layer still missing?

How often does the info layer disappear? Half the time you load a song? A quarter of the time? One out of every twenty?

Are there any actions that you can perform that will cause the info layer to disappear every time?

Does the info layer ever disappear with riffs that are less than 4 bars? More than 4 bars? A certain tempo? On riffs with effects? Without effects? On the entire songlayer?

What interface device are you using when it happens?

What OS?

Does it happen when you "import"? When you "open"? When you double-click a .rws file?

You get the idea! If we can use this thread to start to collect information, it will be a big help. We know there is a problem, so keep this thread organized and focused. The more we understand, the sooner this will get fixed and, in the meantime, there will be considerably less frustration.

Thanks a lot!

The info layer modifications were all gone. I had it set the way I wanted 2 days ago when I last modified it. It was saved, and I have shut down and restarted my computer since then. I haven't had the info bar clear itself unless I have shut off my computer in the past. The issue appears RAM related to me, but I'm just guessing.

I can usually get 5-10 saves over a couple day period before it wipes. I shut down my comp every night.

Only restarting that I've found.

Does the info layer ever disappear with riffs that are less than 4 bars? More than 4 bars? A certain tempo? On riffs with effects? Without effects? On the entire songlayer?

When it goes it usually takes the songlayer, but today it took changes in the individual riffs as well. All my modifications were on riffs of 4-8 bars.

What interface device are you using when it happens?

Line6 PoDXT

What OS?

XP SP3

Does it happen when you "import"? When you "open"? When you double-click a .rws file?

When the file is opened. At that point any previous changes to the info bar are lost, though I haven't experimented with saving back-ups to see if they are affected as well.

Hope this helps a little,
Ron

Info line modifications disappear if I change ASIO between my Pod XTL and Toneport UX2 while a song is loaded.

Yep, switching either way makes all layers play irrespective of Info Lines. If a layers' info line is showing when I switch devices.... the line on that layer stays set but all the hidden layers go to default/full on. Having switched between devices every layer plays at full volume irrespective of info line position.
