I want to know if Riffworks will run on the upcoming release of Windows 7? I would like to upgrade to Windows 7 in the near future, but only if Riffworks will run on it. I'm currently running Windows XP.

I have been reading good things about Windows 7. It's not just a fixed version of Vista. So right now it's just a question I"m asking.

yo, totally good question for sonoma though! I can say that Riffworks and ALL of my audio stuff runs really well in Vista on both my 32bit and 64bit machines. I don't know if I would risk upgrading from this operating system until I knew that every last piece of software I own runs on 7. I'm experimenting with a linux install of Riffworks and I've actually had some success, but nothing as high quality or as easy and fun as RWS running in windows XP or Vista. Hopefully RWS will run just fine in 7 - who knows, maybe that's why the RiffLink situation is so bad (from what I've heard) - maybe Sonoma is focusing on getting RWS ready for Windows 7!!

I bought a new laptop with Vista a while back and my Line6 software did not work! I almost sent my brand new laptop back because of it. GearBox came out a few days later, and it was Vista compatible, so I kept it. since then, I haven't had any trouble with my audio software....... websurfing, emailing, syncing with my blackberry, using bluetooth, burning dvd's, playing movies, and every thing else you would use a computer for, sucks!

I'm pretty sure Windows 7 is going to be an outta the park home run - if it isn't, Microsoft is in BIG trouble! I have a much better time using Linux for all of my non-audio-production stuff. If it weren't for RWS and a few other of my Windows audio and video production software, I would've formatted my fat32 partition a long time ago!

I've been running Windows 7 as a dual boot on my MacBook since june, I use it for a Java development environment. It seriously roxx compared to Vista. I have not tried to use it for Riffworks or any other audio applications though.

Yeah it works fine, I'm a beta tester for Win7. In beta sometimes the app would not open up. Going into task manager and closing riffworks.exe and reopening it solved that. I am now in RC1 (Release Candidate 1) and it opens up everytime without issue.

Win7 is a lot less resource intensive as Vista is and I like a heck of a lot better. Has an WinXP vibe for sure with new features.

Good job you don't live in Florida Jouni, you'd need qualifications like that just to apply for a job as a greeter in Walmart here  Even then they wouldn't reply to your application  Although in my case I expect they reckon the shoppers wouldn't understand WTF I was on about

Just kidding mate ;)

Seriously though, I get numerous occassions when RW doesn't open up when I start it on my Vista PC. I then have to go into Task Manager and click End Process, memory usage will be stuck on 32,*** or 64,***, if I don't do that I can get as many instances of RW running as a process clone as I like with memory usage significantly lower. Anyone got any ideas about that ? I don't remember my Line 6 version ever doing that.
No-one remembers what you do or say. Everyone remembers how you made them feel. Allegedly !!!!

What version of Vista are you running? Give me more info about your machines and software you have running. Antivirus, spyware, firewalls running?

Just for SNG, trying Right clicking on the RW Icon and "Run as administrator" to see if it still does it. If not, you can go into the properties of this icon and always set it to run as administrator.
