I've got a podxtlive and a toneport ux1 by line 6. I access either of them through gearbox exclusively (the wah pedal is the only thing that gets touched on the xtlive). Anyway, I saw this Podfarm thing at L6. Do I want this?

On the L6 website, it says that if you have gearbox, Podfarm is free, and it details how to go about downloading it, but I haven't been successful at getting it, or have I? L6 Monkey doesn't show it as having been installed.

It looks cool. And if it's free, I wanna pick it up. Anyone been successful at installing and using it? What exactly is it?

It's like a software version of the POD for you computer. A better "gearbox" if you will. I downloaded it, installed it, and am now using it and it works quite well.

It does everything the Pod X3 will do. That means dual signal chains. The tuner in Gearbox is nicer than PodFarm's. But again.....dual signal chains :)

I've been using it for a while now and I like it.

I've been using it for a while and it works extremely well with RiffWorks. Like Ron says, it's an updated 'GearBox' but without the ability to play audio tracks to jam along to. There are extensive amp models for guitars, bass, keys and vox. Definitely worth the free price tag. :)
Cheers!

I have gearbox, but it's the gearbox that came with toneport. It's apparently the "silver" gearbox that gets a free update. I think mine is a gold gearbox.

Scott, when you say without the ability to jam along to, what exactly do ya mean? I can still open rhapsody in a browser window and jam along with it right?

Also, does this replace gearbox altogether? Can I have both installed and run either one?

hi beauzeau,
you can transfer your pre-sets to the pod farm too.

i have both and have used either one.

pod farm doesn't have the slow speed loop player like gearbox.

i think you'll like the farm. :)

That should be ok, cuz I had no idea that gearbox had a loop player!

Four days after I bought Pod Farm for $49, I got a bulk email from Line 6 telling me that I can now buy it for $34.95. I know I can "return" the $49 Pod Farm and then repurchase it for $34.95, but I'm afraid something will go wrong.

I bought it, and it's great compared to regular old drabby gearbox. Sounds much better too. I really dig the dual sound thing as it makes for an endless supply of really nice sounding tones.

I can't seem to choose one tone from the heavy effects category and one tone from the acoustic category though. When I'm choosing dual tones, it makes me choose both from the same category.

Also, I noticed that the model packs for the toneport were much cheaper than for the xtlive. I wonder why that is? Model packs are 50 bucks each for the xtlive, and I just got three of them for the toneport for 50 bucks.

You can go to your account on Line6 and de-activate from Toneport, then using the code they give ya, activate 'em on your Pod using Monkey :)
No-one remembers what you do or say. Everyone remembers how you made them feel. Allegedly !!!!

You do not need to purchase Pod Farm if you have a Line6 device. What you can purchase is a VST version that runs inside your recording app, you will most likely not need that. Sorry don't want anyone to waste their money.

i don't have any other line6 device other than podxt live. I use the Podfarm vst plugin and that rocks, i bought it when it came out and it was worth it's price back then.

I Still use the gearbox a lot too , the gearbox controls the pod and the output goes into podfarm. so it's like 2 amp sims in a series chain and that gives you a lot of tone shaping options like having 2 stomps or a pre eq, auto swells in front of amp etc (i disable the amp on gearbox and only use it's fx and wah pedal).

Also many of the line6 amp models work great with external cab simulators with impulses .

edit:
About your tone choosing from categories. you can drag and drop tones into the dual section.
in the vst version this does not work within RW though.

Same here, it's a great deal, but theres one problem - It's not compatible with pod X3 unless you use the VST

Does the VST access the hardware directly? What I mean is, no latency problems? If so I might pick up the cheaper PodFarm VST to use with my PodXTPro.
