I asked this before and got a great answer but now cannot find it again...I keep getting an error that the disk I am recording to is getting full and I should use rwsettings tool to change it. But I don't have the rwsettings tool and was told to change it in the registry somehow but now can't find the message that told me how to change the registry. Can someone help? Sorry to ask the same question twice!!

click the start button .... go to run....... type in regedit.....
go to: HKEYCurrent User/Software/Sonoma Wireworks/RiffWorks Standard ..... double click : SongPath.... type in (DRIVE Letter that you want to record to):/Sonoma Wire Works/RiffWorks/Songs/
This is the way for the Standard version ... I'm sure it is similar for the Line 6 version too

hope this helps.......cheers ........Mike

You might want to create a folder in the desired drive, and then type in that name........

Hmmm...that points to a location where I save my riffworks projects and it has 12G left on it!! That should be enough shouldn't it...I'm doing really small projects??!!

Hmmmm........so you have 2 drives and there both near capacity?
or only 1?.... which case if it's only 1 then you probably need a bigger or second hard drive

I have several hard drives...some with more room than others. I have an Apps drive where I install applications...it only has a few gig left on it. I have a User drive where I save my RW projects this has 12G left on it.

I suspect the error I am getting is due to where the temporary data is recorded...once I save the project it goes to the desired location. Am I right in thinking that temporary data is stored somewhere that may be different than where I save my projects? If I'm right and its putting temp data where the app is installed then I'm not suprised I'm having problems. I would like to be able to specify the temp file location and point it to a big honkin scratch drive I have!!

Im interested in changing the place where riffworks records its temporary recordings, not the actual song files. I remember it was posted but cant find it either. Is this the same thing?

I think the Scratch tool came with V1.1 but I'm not sure.maybe one of the 3 D's can tell us how to get there without it .....probably in regedit I beleive it's called the riff Path..

GuitarSlinger...yup, thats what I'm trying to figure out...where temporary recorded data is saved!! If I remember, the trick is you have to ADD something to the registry...not just change an entry. Maybe they have a hard coded temp location that is used if it can't find it in the registry. Unfortunately I think the c: drive is where the temp files go and I keep my c: partition pretty small, lean and clean...basically just the OS stuff.

I don't get it. All I did was specify the location on my secondary hard drive when I saved a song (RWS), and every time after that when I open RW it defaults to that locations for saves and loading.

I didn't do any of that fancy stuff..........am I missing something here?

But before you save a song...while you are recording the data is being saved somewhere...likely to hard disk...and likely a temp location. Its this temp location that is filling up and I need to specify a new location.

I found it in the beta logs. Here is the path for Riffworks temporary recordings.

C:Documents and SettingsDefault UserLocal SettingsTemp

It says to set this path to change the temp recordings:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER/Software/Sonoma Wire Works/RiffWorksStandard/TempPath

CAN WE GET A CONFIRMATION FROM DAN DAVE OR DUG ON THIS? I dont feel comfortable editing the registry to change this without making sure exactly what to do. I want to change my temp recording location to the empty partition at the begging of my L: drive.

Here is what my RWStandard registry looks like.
