ShredRex,

If you liked the Spider you might want to hold off! Line 6 is rumored to be releasing a new Spider Valve series that is a modern tube amp with Bogner design and Line 6 modeling intertwined. Sounds like a true Frankenstein but it could get quite interesting indeed!

Check out the thread here: http://line6.com/support//message.jspa?messageID=74287#74287

Have fun :)

I've always wanted one of those old Kustom amps, with the loud candy-colored padding all over em, and the matching springy cord!

I've got a flextone II or III, can't remember, as two days after I bought the thing, I found out about the podxtlive and have been playing through it ever since. But you're right about the pod thing, even with all the tones and tombres, there is SOMETHING that makes it all sound the same. But I like it! And I can fiddle with the knobs and stuff on my monitor, which still has not lost it's coolness to me.

The last combo amp I had before this one was a johnson millenium 150 I believe. Also a modeling amp, but a bit different sound than Line 6. Haven't heard anything about them in a while, so I don't even know if they're still around, but I did enjoy the amp.

For blues and rock, I'd try to track down an old Vibrolux twin.

He’s a nice guy and an Atomic enthusiast.

I appreciate the compliment, but to set the record straight, AndyZ of the InstituteOfNoise.com did the Atomic samples on their MySpace site. He's a far more experienced musician than I.

So far I still have no purchased anything.....first I wanted a Randall, then I was leaning toward Spider III, then Flextone III.

Now I am dying to get my hands on the Spider Valve......that looks awesome. So many choices......if anyone gets to hear the Spider Valve in person let me know what you think please. Thanks for the link epauley!

Turns out it will be October before they are out......the 212 is $1149....ouch and only 40W. The head is 100W tho.........

I figured it would be a lot more than other Spider amps.....not sure if I want to spend that much. That would pretty much get me a Peavey JSX or XXX combo.....even a 5150 or 6505. Tough decision......guess I will have to wait and hear it to know for sure.

Thanks for the clarification Karl – and for giving credit where credit is due. I assumed when Tom King came over to your house….

So, do you use RiffWorks? If so (or not), it would be great to have you participate here. Several of us are forum members at L6.

Ouch! That is much more $ than I had anticipated. An Atomic is more reasonable even when you add an MFX device.

I just purchased a spider III 150 and it's great and all, but I hate the fact that they took away the midi in and out so I can't use line6 edit to edit the sound right from my computer.

Yes you can use the headphone out directly into the line6 GP, I've done it and that is what it is for actually. It serves as a headphone out and a line out.

I would've love one of those bogners, man do they sound sweet when they added the tubes. Too damn expensive at the moment though.

I checked that out yesterday....is it just me or does it seem like the Spider series has outlived it's time? 14:59 seconds and counting? I mean time to do something new, more presets is not the answer. I was really hoping the new amps would go the direction say of the Peavey Vypyr, best of both worlds. Great amp, and great recording device with USB connectivity. Make it work in combination with the POD series floor boards, you know add to the equation and have them pair together so it has a slave mode for the X3L or something to that effect. A true bypass where it would just act as a powered cab....then I would be interested at what they are putting out.....but alas it was not meant to be :)

But imagine what a great amp that would be with those features!

Really? I thought they were supposed to bring back the Midi or USB to this model. I could have sworn I heard that. So they left it off of that model too huh?

That sucks donkey balls!

I do use my spider with the FBV shortboard, it allows me to at least set effects the way I want, then save that preset with the effects off, then call them up when I want them on with the setting I left them with.

Peavey is putting out a combo version of the 6505+ that looks killer. Only downside is it comes out in October. I'll be getting one for sure! :D
