If so what's your take on it? I personally like it. Seems Rick rubin has done a great job getting them back to their earlier days form.

I think it's really really good...reminds me of Justice and Master of Puppets rolled up in one big heavy metal burrito.

But then again, I buy just about anything Rick Rubin produces including Neil Diamond's last two albums...there I said it, what of it? :P

It simply rocks. My neck hurts from banging my head for the past 3 days. I love the tight overall feel of the mix. In your face with very little reverb.

I used to love Metallica back in the day, but they completely lost my respect after the whole Lars/Napster thing.

Back in the day, they used to depend on fans to circulate their demos - now it seems they're only interested in squeezing as much money from their fans as possible. That's definitely not a very metal thing to do.

+1 on Rick Rubin though. If he can make Jay-Z sound good, he can make anyone sound good. I love "99 Problems".

I havn't heard much yet. I really wasn't a fan of Load or Re-Load era stuff and St. Anger was just a mess imo. I need to check it out.

Anyone remember this funny remix from St Anger that was floating around?

Well - I've been to the record release concert here in Berlin, and it was a real hard rockin' ass-kickin' show. They played about 2hrs, and new album was the centerpiece. So it was mainly responsible for the concert being Real Metal. I wouldn't even say that I'm so much of a Metallica fan, but an album that provides so much stuff for a fantastic metal concert can only be great!

I think the new stuff is OK, nothing ground breaking....back to the roots kinda feel. But not something I am gonna run out and get. It is nice to hear new material, but at this point it is all starting to sound old hat to me.......

Well I have been a Tallica fan since the beginning and been let down since the black album. But I must say that this album is seriously killer... with the exception of a couple of songs.......The unforgiven 3........... What the FFFF?

I agree...

I have no respect for these guys. The new CD sounds OK but their music will never sound good to me.

Back in the day, these guys could do no wrong IMO - Kill 'Em All, Ride The Lightning - killer albums at the time, but alas, no more.

Talented guys, but IMO they're just using up my oxygen.

About the Napster thing.... Yuo know what they did was take care of the smaller bands that rely on cd and music sales. It takes a big name to get things done sometimes. If it wasn't for them to take the hit the industry would be even worse off than it is. Thats just my opinion on it but I really think they helped more thsn they hurt.

You have a valid point there strychnine, but Lars didn't go after Napster because he wanted to be the champion of small bands who rely on CD sales. He did it because he's a greedy little prick. Or maybe (in the case of everything since the black album) it's because he wanted to make sure that fans paid for the album before they found out it sucked.

Pooter I agree he might have wanted to rethink his approach for sure LOL. He definately could have done that better. Same with Bush and the WMD's LOL
