POD Farm is the software that will replace both, GearBox and Amp Farm. It will be a free download for those already using GearBox plug in and a $49 upgrade for those without the plug in. The software will probably also replace GearBox as the front end for Tone Port users.

What does it add? Not much! But it looks waaay cool (much better than GearBox) and seems more fun/easier to use. Also, you can NOW play through two guitar rigs at once. This is especially cool for us using RiffWorks because we can't reamp with VST. With POD Farm, you'll be able to record two separate amps and effects and control the panning (left to right) of each separate rig at the same time.

Here's a video demonstration: http://www.soundonsound.com/news?NewsID=10492

Here's more information on the software (not released yet): http://line6.com/podfarm/

Have fun!
Rich

ehh, im not sold. ill just stick to getting the X3.

the only thing pissing me off is its replacing gearbox, which i use to edit my tones in my pod. gearbox is free currently. u have to be an asshole to discontinue a free product and replace it with another availible for purchase.
why? they advertize it as free on the box for the pod (minus the plugin)

Hey,
i had gotten a line 6 offer for bass expansion pack and gearbox plugin for $69 and its valid for maybe couple of more days.

I own for my PODXT Live all other expansion packs already.(metal ,cc and fx) but was wondering if it's a good deal to have a gearbox plugin? and now that it's going to move into pod farm and free for gearbox users?

shall i go for the offer??

On the offer page they do say : Buy now to qualify for free upgrade to PODFarm Plug-in when it becomes available.

I bought the Gearbox plugin when it was $99 and don't use it as the latency seems worse than Amplitude and anyway I like using gearbox side by side with RW, my 2 cents worth :)

The plug-in is great if you use other software and/or hardware (which I do). Otherwise, it may not be of much use in RiffWorks using TonePort or GuitarPort. If you're happy with your Line 6 device and only use RiffWorks I'd say just wait for the free POD Farm software upgrade (the NON plug-in version) and enjoy the new graphics and dual amp tone capability :)

Whew, back online after a few days and running Vista now.

Anyways, pretty sure Pod Farm will be free for all X3 and X3L owners.

umm fellas,
i went ahead and bought it.
i hope it can keep the gas down for few months.

Have not played with it much maybe 20 mins or so, and quite liking it.
atleast now i can stack two sims one after another .

for s/w i use RW and live.

few months back i was gonna discard entire line 6 and digital stuff range and go back to old school analog (even finalized on a 6505+) but i got some sane advise from a friend of mine to add pedals before the pod and since then the pod is sounding as good as anything at least to my ears.

POD Farm now available for download for those who qualify. You have to upgrade Line6 Drivers and Monkey first.

Hey Les,

Are you getting an error when trying to run it as a plugin in Riffworks? It runs fine as a standalone for me.

I,m not using as a vsti.Running with Toneport UX2 as standalone,I'm pretty sure you have to pay for the plugin but you dont need it.

Yeah, you are right. I just figured it out...duh! It is and additional $49 for a POD Farm license to run it as a plugin, but I don't need it.
