There is another pitch on this, you could buy a really good allround high-end guitar like my Parker PM20. I've never played a guitar that feels and sounds this good. Everytime I pick up a guitar in a store or borrow a friends they all kind of feel like ... crap compared to my Parker. At least you could try a Parker.

Haha you got a Parker Jouni...why am I not surprised at that. Certainly a unique looking guitar.....Not sure I can justify spending that kinda money on something that Ugly....:)

They look to have great spec, and are a great price here at the moment (about 350 pounds). I tried one out today but it was set up crap so it was hard to tell. The trem seemed nice though.....Or should I get something completely different like an Ibanez? Decisions, decisions....it's worse than voting in the rumble.....

My friend got a warmouth catalog and built his dream guitar. It's sweet and wasn't that difficult to build. Things like scalloped fretboard and whatever pups you want etc, etc... His cost was around 1700 to build the whole thing the way he wanted. Once he assembled it he took it a local guy who did the final 'set' on everything.

I played it and IMHO is way better than the guitars you'll find at guitar center .. The wood and materials are ALL top drawer too - it's really a piece of art and is a one-off all the way(which leads back to our discussion about having a lo-jack system for guitars).

FYI> Warmouth is at: http://www.warmoth.com

I have 7 guitars and am considering selling a few to get the cash and build one myself. Maybe a custom tele clone..

Exactly...if you want a metal-axe, get a Jackson ;-)
(cue verbal abuse about Jacksons...)

Oh, you unfickle Ibanez traitor! :=-)

The PRS SE w/ soapbars IS a decent axe I thought when I tried a few in various forms at the store.. the soapbar impressed me the most.

Yeah, Jouni and his Parker :) Let's say it's, er, aesthetically challenging. But my feeling is that we all, as we grow older, wouldn't go back to "versatile" guitars anymore, would we? I have 9 guitars precisely because each one looks, sounds and plays differently. I would never ever trade them in for a Variax!

For me, my PRS Custom is the closest I'll ever get to an all-purpose-guitar. But I'm not sure if it's got the sound Colin's looking for.

Just ask her why she needs another pair of black heels that to your eyes are identical to the others she already has. ;) Maybe shoes aren't her thing, but you get my point.

Ibanez is great by the way. I have 2 (an S series and an RG series) and I love them both.

Charvelguy wrote:Are you looking at Musicians friend? Those 60's classic players do look like a decent buy, I've thought of jumping on one. Depends on what you want from a guitar though, so you should start figuring; hardtail, or vibrato, what kind of vibrato, scale, materials/woods (maple, ash) pickup config, hum, single coils, neck shape, budget, etc,...breaking down those things that appeal to you the most.

Hi Tom,

No I'm in the UK. I looked at 123 for price comparison and they are on for about 799 dollars (list price is about 1100 dollars?). I can get the blue one here in the uk for the equivalent of 544 dollars (don't ask me why they are so cheap here).....which just seems silly money. Although if what some of the guys here say then it's simply a waste of money....But why would the necks come out so crap? My Mex strat is great....That's guitars for you....

Pooter: the difference is she's better at nagging than me. I'd look at the shoes and think to myself, 'what do you need them for'...then I'd go play my guitar, or drink a beer, or maybe both....She'd look at the guitar and say 'What do you need that for'...then spend the next 4 weeks making me feel guilty....you need a woman that drinks beer, that's for sure.....:)

There's lots of different variations on this model (with trem/without, different pickups config, etc.) Give these a serious look and check out the video links above. Then go play one of these! They really are special :)

All Musicman's are 25.5 inch scale. Identical to a strat, smaller behind the bridge and shorter headstock is why they look smaller.

You def have to play a music man to understand what makes them so sweet but you probably can't find a much more versatile guitar IMO. Make sure you play one just for kicks Colin! I think you'll like it ;)

Ha, that's not a guitar, this is a GUITAR, the Vox Virage, it seems to be a bleeping fantastic piece of work!

I don't mean to sound biased about one brand, its just fun to have guitars that do different things, both my MM's and my Tele are all completely different. I've seen guys that get 6 or 7 of the same guitar and I don't get it.
