I just discovered an amazing free program for reatime online jamming:

http://www.ninjam.com/

I have just spent the last hour jamming with some guys from europe...zero latency!...live!...for reals!...RiffLink needs to be able to do this. it would be awesome to have it as an option somehow...loop based or realtime...you decide.

It's a fib, they explain on the page that all is done in blocks they call measures, each user hears everyones elses previous measure. If you see what I mean. They say that because zero latency is not possible they have increased the latency deliberately and synchronised it in this fashion to create the illusion of zero latency, comprendi ?? That's how I understand it anyway :)
No-one remembers what you do or say. Everyone remembers how you made them feel. Allegedly !!!!

To get it to work you have to copy and paste the server addresss (ex. test.ninjam.com:2049) from the "Jam Farm" page on the website.
( http://www.ninjam.com/jamfarm/index.php ) Or you can download the latest version of Reaper and it has built in native support for NinJam.

Here is a link the a thread on their forum explaining the setup.

Dont get me wrong...it's no RiffLink but it is still fun. I like the "live" feel of it even if it is an illusion like Bill explained. (pretty smart for an old fart!!!..mwhauaaha)

I would love to see the Junkies take over one of their servers one night. They seem to have a group of guys that have been playing together for a couple of years. I know we can give them a run for their money. I have read that Slash and other rock gods have been known to show up there on the private servers. That would be wild to jam with a true rock god, other than our own Rick Andrews of course.

Have fun and rock on!
