Anyone else think that Drifting by Hendrix is one of the most amazing pieces of music they ever heard?

I just love it, nothing can hold my attention like Hendrix.

The blooming and fading backwards guitar, the vibrophone overdubs, the RnB chiming guitar, all swirling about playing with tension. I think it's magical.

Ethereal.

i'm with ya, people often just see the theatrics and the heavy stuff (awesome of course) and overlook stuff like 'drifting'. how he did all he did in just 4 yrs with all the fame and distractions, freakin amazing

drifting is one of my fav jimi tune.

this is an acapella version i really like (not quite the "thriller" guy), it shows how he could take/make a simple melody and add his magic.

he had a great gospel influence in his music, which i think makes for great tunes.
i love that stuff, lol. can't beat it for emotional power.

Apparently he used to sneak into churches when he was young just to listen to the choirs.

I think what I love so much about Hendrix is that he really boiled down all his influences and blended it together rather than having some hodgepodge amalgam of derivative phrases; I'm not as enamored with chunky fusion soups, where you can hear generic idioms combined.

Totally, some of the songs off of Cry Of Love / First Rays have such a great vibe in that aspect.
