All I know is that there is a waiting list to get one (or at least there was) and people that have one rave about how amazing it is!! Supposedly the best "modeler" money can buy!

Truthfully, I've read a lot of posts on them (mostly on the Line 6 forums) and have yet to hear anything bad other than the price...whoa they are expensive!!! What has prompted you to take the plunge? Do let us know if it's worth it....

I've listened to tons of clips, good, bad, and great. The greatest ones coming from the Hectic Watermelon guitarist on the EBMM site. Super cool band too. I think it is better suited for live use then Line 6 stuff, since you can disable the power sections from the preamps and/or blend them with your real amp.

I'd register at fractal and see if anyone in your area owns one and lets you demo it.

Looks like you'll have to use the rack unit itself for editing. I'm not a big fan of green leds, scrolling menus and navigation buttons. Seems tedious to get around that way. There's no apparent USB or Firewire connections or computer software editor (i.e. GUI) that I can see.

Hmmmm....I guess if it really sounds as good as they say I could overlook the hardware-only editing but how difficult could it have been to add USB or Firewire support and write some software to allow easy editing and saving with a PC or Mac? It's not 1985 anymore so I don't get it. That's the only "bad" thing I can see here other than the price tag. It does sound great :)

Curious, what about this makes it worth $1500 to you? Then again...maybe I don't wanna know ;) I've got a bad enough case of G.A.S. :O

Well, I do play quite a bit of live shows here in Nashville....with a wide range of styles. I have been talking with some people over the net( none that I know real well) about how great it is for both Studio and live performance......so what appeals to me is the fact of having one rig to do all.......and 1500 dollars is not that much if you consider the price of a Marshall , Boogie, or any other big brand name all tube head..... and double that if I could do it all with the one unit........I will find some one here in Nashville who has one....it is music city after all ;)

There *IS* a software editor, though made by a third party programmer made available for general use. I'd imagine with not as much UI polish as you'd expect from an official release. Who knows though? There IS one though.

The units have been getting rave reviews from most people, mostly for the `tube like dynamics`. I have only every really played my POD XT and a crappy little practice amp so I don't know much about that.

The FX I have heard from it sound great. I remember one clip had a very Floyd sounding arpeggiator. It along with a Graphtech Ghost midi/piezo acoustic pickup, and an AXON midi controller would form my `dream rig`

And that Music Prototyping Studio I suppose.

You can get them on Ebay generally without the wait.
