I was recently involved in a discussion about waiting in line. The longest I have waited in line was about 5 hours in August 16, 1978. We visited Graceland in Memphis, TN on the one year anniversary of Elvis' death. I did this for my wife and daughter. This is nothing I would do for myself. It was hot and miserable and at that time the house was not open to the public. All we saw were the graves at the end of a tiny little swimming pool. The things we do for love.

How long have you waited in line? And for what? concert tickets, a video game release, a video game system?

A mere 1 hour at the checkin of Avianca Airlines at Lima airport, Peru, to catch a flight to Bogota. However, that was at 4 a.m. after having spent the night dozing on the tiled floor of said airport, kinda "resting" my head on my hard-shell suitcase.

Hmmm.....I can't think of a time I've waited in line for more than 30 minutes. Nonetheless, you deed was a thoughtful gesture blueydude.

...now, if your question was about time spent setting on a tarmac....

I used to go to Guitar Centers Labor and Memorial day sale and wait in the parking lot anywhere from 2 hours early to arrive half the day late. I was almost always the first in the parking lot tho, so first in the door and I did this for several years.
The same people always showed up early along with me as well and they were my bi-yearly competitors.
'Course, these were days when they had really decent sales. Mesa 90/90's power amps and 100/100 display models like new for 500.00 , many days I didn't even have money to buy anything more than a pickup...but I'd end up with 300 bucks worth of stuff, write a check and somehow make it work. I love to shop for gear sometimes and at other times.. I can't. Many things I 'could have' - I had to walk away from. Roland VG88, NIB -350.00 (a couple years ago)
My best deals that I can think of offhand were a roland ready strat, NIB factory sealed, GK2 loaded, MIM -280.00. Three Brawley Threats (nice guitars really for Kor) out the door for 350.00.
Going back like 10-15 years, some Guitar Centers started to carry guitar parts, like Fender and Fender authorized. You could get nice finished parts that would have a small blem or flaw, bodies were 50.00. So a couple years I picked up some nice finished strat bodies @ 40-50 bucks. At one of the recent ones..they were selling graphite necks but they went quick.. you gotta pick your 1-2 items that are going to be the hot ones and go for those first.

I pretty much steer clear of Guitar Center on the whole tho....I'll shop there 2 X yr.

Waiting in line is good for people :) Keeps us humble. So, talk to the people standing next to you, start a party, sing a song, look around at the things you usually ignore and take a lesson in being present and more patient ;) :D

Ok ok......waiting in line does suck after all  :P
