Hey strat, since you are a strat guy you might want to consider an 89. It's the only one that can be split and wired for the classic strat "quack" with the bridge and middle positions. In humbucker mode sounds like an 85 which is awesome anyway. My guitar has no quack whatsoever.

Here's the updated collection.

Latest addition: The Tennessee Banjo on the far right.

Oldest piece shown: The 82 Squier Strat, my very first electric guitar.

Most expensive piece shown: The PRS Custom 24.

Least played piece shown: The GuitarHero Explorer (due to my PC not being powerful enough to run the game...)

Lousiest build quality shown: The Epi Nighthawk. Pretty unique sound though.

Most modified piece shown: The Boogie Caliber 22+ in the background. Had it re-tubed and re-wired. Runners up: The Epi Explorer (original Gibson PU installed, re-wired) and the Yamaha RGZ 620 (EMG 81s installed, re-wired)

Last pieces I played live in a gig: Yamaha RGZ and PRS Custom 24

The piece I take with me when I rehearse with the guys: PRS Custom 24

A piece not shown: My classic nylon guitar which I lended to my friend Anton (who's not playing it, as he admits...)

The missing piece: The Epi Les Paul Standard with DiMarzio PUs I sold to my friend Alex (who's not playing it, as he admits...)

What do you think of the Epi Explorer? I'm thinking of picking one up next time I go stateside.

I really like it! It's particularly good for Southern Rock, I'd say. Because of the strange body shape, modern Explorers by ESP etc seem to be built for Metal mostly. This one here, however, ist rather faithful to its 50s/60s Rocknroll roots.

As with many Epis, the wiring and the PUs could be better though. Do check the toggle switch for crackling noises when you switch PUs; do play with the volume knobs and see how they take away treble. Re-wiring and a new PU really help!

I play the Explorer a lot, I like the feel, the fretboard, its solidity - and the fact that the body is so wide that it completely hides my beer belly :)

This here I played mostly with the Explorer:

Ok, so I am more of a drummer than a guitarist! Anyway, checkout my music setup especially the pics of the new Jobeky Electronic Drums. They are as good as or better than Roland/Yamaha/Hart drums and cost half the price. A lot quieter in the apartment now as well! All I need now is a bass guitar to complete my home studio.

I guess it's pretty cool to have your setup in the middle of your folks' living room - I mean, you're surrounded by loved ones when creating music, that's a good thing - but maybe not such a good thing when they keep telling you that you flubbed that last riff :P

Here's the latest addition to my rig:
Image

It's an Avatar 2x12 closed-back cab, just arrived via FedEx today. Avatar sells factory direct, and because they skip the middle man, you can really save a lot of money.

They have several different styles of cabs (mine's the "Vintage") - you select a cab style then select the kinda speakers you want. I went with one Hellatone 60 and one Greenback. I paid $428 for the whole shebang, shipping included. Not bad considering a Marshall 1936 2x12 sells for over $600, and you don't get to choose your speakers! I'm still in the process of breaking in the speakers, was only able to put a few hours on them tonight, but I'm loving what I'm hearing so far, and it's a helluva lot easier to schlep around than the 4x12.
