Well, it happened. My father in law has shuffled off this mortal coil and gone to greener pastures. The prognosis was bad from the beginning, and he didn't have much of a chance in the first place. But he DID say that he would have tried marijuana if he'd have known that it had the potential to help him. Of course, he didn't know that I smoke from time to time (to time) and I didn't want to un-necessarily worry him by sharing that with him. After all, I have to take care of his daughter and his granddaughter. But the doctors did say that if he'd been able to eat better, he would have had a much better chance in his fight.
So, while the feds hem and haw over the "medicinal" values of the drug (yeah, they call it a "drug" from the left side of their face, and then say it's not a "drug" out of the right side of their face), I don't think anyone who's tried pot would disagree that it has the potential to increase the appetite. I don't know WHY it does. I don't care WHY it does. But dammit, if an increased appetite could have helped his chances in his fight, then he should have had access.
I don't want my daughter to become an alcoholic. I don't want her to become a whore either. But I'm not going to ask my government to ban alcohol and sex to ensure that doesn't happen. I'm going to parent her instead. People in this country need to realize once and for all that we are ALL responsible for our own actions.
I have a friend who's sister in law was beaten to death with a baseball bat here in Georgia a couple of weeks back. So, do we point our fingers at the Louisville Slugger baseball bat company? No, we look at the kid who was swinging the bat. He's responsible for his own actions. In this case, his mother not only failed in raising him to be a compassionate human being, but it looks as though she had a hand in trying to cover up her sons involvement! They say he might have broke into the house to get money to buy drugs. Guess what. It's not the drugs. It's HIM! HE'S DEFECTIVE, AND NEEDS TO BE RECALLED AND DISPOSED OF!
I'm sick to death of people looking for someone or something to place BLAME on for their problems. It's people like this that I BLAME for the high price of healthcare. Someone sues their doctor because he didn't stitch up their heart surgery wound correctly. Yeah, "my wife says the scar scares her, and she's withholding sex". Never mind the fact that the doctor saved his life! He just wants some free money! It's absolutely ridiculous. And I'm embarrassed to say that such is life in the country I live in. My wife withholds sex from time to time. I'm not about to sue Tylenol because it won't help her headache!
Well, sorry to vent here guys. It's just been a very hard road over the last few months. Anyone who's had to go through this, or who's had a loved one that's had to, understands how terrible it is to watch someone wither away to nothing and suffer. Knowing that his final months on earth might have been more bearable for him had he been able to use a natural substance that's been shown over and over to be completely safe makes me very very upset. It's just not fair. He deserved better, and I only wish I could have given it to him.

"I think the problem might have been, that there was a stonehenge monument on stage in danger of being crushed, by a dwarf". "I really think you're making a big thing out of this". "Making a big thing out of it would have been a good idea".
