My parents have caught me a couple times now, but hey, i live in the beautiful city of Boulder, Colorado what do ya expect?!? Hell, even my teachers at school talk about getting high. one of my teachers publicly states hes a proud supporter of 4-20. He talks about how he even went to a Cypriss Hill concert hahahhah! If teachers openly admit to smoking ganja, they may as well legalize it. it would really help out the economy right about now.

Now if you're still in high school, I just wouldn't feel right not telling ya right now that you shouldn't be partaking any ganja just yet! You shouldn't be drinking either. And hopefully, you're aware that cigarettes are not cool, they're just a way for a bunch of old guys to make money off of you while slowly killing you. Think of helping the economy long-term, and concentrate on high school. Too many people are dropping out these days. By staying in school and getting an education, you're helping ensure our survival. Put off the beer bongs and vapes til you're in college!

I didn't get any snow at all here at the pooterpalace, just rain. But I went to see a friend who lives just 30 minutes south of me in Gainesville and it was snowing like hell. This was one of those weird weather systems where folks down south got it worse than folks further north like me at the base of the foothills.

Alex,

Bump what beauzeau said about focusing on high school. I ain't the pope or anything, but I do know that college is more fun than you can imagine. Make sure you kick ass in high school (and college if possible) at all cost. You won't realize the benefits until you look back.

I think I heard that the drop out rate nationwide for high school is 25%??? Make it through and do well, and you will be in a position to run things! There'll be plenty of time down the road to whoop it up my friend.

Don't mean to preach, but it is more important than it seems.

Hell, in college I started jamming with some guys I met, and we ended up opening up for a band called Inner Circle (they do "Bad Boys" theme from Cops show), turned out to be half of the guys from the original Wailers. We had dinner with them and hung out, it was insane. Never in a million years would have happened if not for school... There's more to it than learning.

Keep the pencil sharp there big guy.

Thanks for reading and keeping an open mind.

Damn man, like 4 inches here in Loganville. Yeah, we actually thought it was gonna go south of US too! They actually did get it worse down around LaGrange. Like 5-6 inches. They hardly ever get any. It's pretty, but probably not as pretty as when it snows up your way. I always enjoy my trips Gatlinburg, as I get to drive through the N Georgia mountains.

Yeah Alex, I meant to put something along these lines in my own post. I didn't want to come off sounding like I was preaching either. Here in the forums, we're gathered for one common cause where age doesn't really matter. I certainly don't want to put you out or come off like I'm trying to be the "wise elder" or anything. God knows I had to put up with enough of that myself when I was in high school! And yeah, the whole time I was doing what I'm suggesting you NOT do!

But like Sandman says, it's all about hindsight. If I could go back and do it again, you bet your ass I would. I'd get it right this time. Sure, I turned out ok. I'm successful at what I do, and I have a family that I likely wouldn't have if I HADN'T done some of the wacked things I did as a younger man. But if I could go back and do it again, I'd do things differently. I'd concentrate on excelling. I'd probably NOT do the Art Institute again (20 grand in student loans on that one), I'd likely play along with the squares a little more closely after college, and that one chick I went home with that one time back in 90, well, I'd probably just stay home and play nintendo this time around, and avoid that whole penile swabbing situation....

Well, it happened. My father in law has shuffled off this mortal coil and gone to greener pastures. The prognosis was bad from the beginning, and he didn't have much of a chance in the first place. But he DID say that he would have tried marijuana if he'd have known that it had the potential to help him. Of course, he didn't know that I smoke from time to time (to time) and I didn't want to un-necessarily worry him by sharing that with him. After all, I have to take care of his daughter and his granddaughter. But the doctors did say that if he'd been able to eat better, he would have had a much better chance in his fight.

So, while the feds hem and haw over the "medicinal" values of the drug (yeah, they call it a "drug" from the left side of their face, and then say it's not a "drug" out of the right side of their face), I don't think anyone who's tried pot would disagree that it has the potential to increase the appetite. I don't know WHY it does. I don't care WHY it does. But dammit, if an increased appetite could have helped his chances in his fight, then he should have had access.

I don't want my daughter to become an alcoholic. I don't want her to become a whore either. But I'm not going to ask my government to ban alcohol and sex to ensure that doesn't happen. I'm going to parent her instead. People in this country need to realize once and for all that we are ALL responsible for our own actions.

I have a friend who's sister in law was beaten to death with a baseball bat here in Georgia a couple of weeks back. So, do we point our fingers at the Louisville Slugger baseball bat company? No, we look at the kid who was swinging the bat. He's responsible for his own actions. In this case, his mother not only failed in raising him to be a compassionate human being, but it looks as though she had a hand in trying to cover up her sons involvement! They say he might have broke into the house to get money to buy drugs. Guess what. It's not the drugs. It's HIM! HE'S DEFECTIVE, AND NEEDS TO BE RECALLED AND DISPOSED OF!

I'm sick to death of people looking for someone or something to place BLAME on for their problems. It's people like this that I BLAME for the high price of healthcare. Someone sues their doctor because he didn't stitch up their heart surgery wound correctly. Yeah, "my wife says the scar scares her, and she's withholding sex". Never mind the fact that the doctor saved his life! He just wants some free money! It's absolutely ridiculous. And I'm embarrassed to say that such is life in the country I live in. My wife withholds sex from time to time. I'm not about to sue Tylenol because it won't help her headache!

Well, sorry to vent here guys. It's just been a very hard road over the last few months. Anyone who's had to go through this, or who's had a loved one that's had to, understands how terrible it is to watch someone wither away to nothing and suffer. Knowing that his final months on earth might have been more bearable for him had he been able to use a natural substance that's been shown over and over to be completely safe makes me very very upset. It's just not fair. He deserved better, and I only wish I could have given it to him.

Beauzeau my friend I am truly sorry for your loss. I watched my grandfather suffer and wither for 4 months just as you describe so I feel your pain and I too believe that MJ being criminalized is in itself a crime. He lost his appetite and that was the end of him.

Exactly. Again, I am sorry and wish your family the best.

WoW...I guess I should respond to this...cause of my name n stuff  :/
Look...not trying to get preachy here myself.....but there is a line between use...and abuse. Nothing is good for you in excess...Alcohol,pot,aspirin,mayonnaise blah blah blah...etc etc etc. For me it has always been a social thing. I rather burn with a friend than lock myself away and zone out. I wish all the world so called leaders could sit down and have a pow wow with a good vaporizer and some nice sticky bud. The great brilliant Carl Sagan admitted he had his strongest theoretical epiphanies when he was partaking in a Lil bit of the weeeeege  Should kids do it? No. Should they drink alcohol? No. Should adults in a freedom based society be allowed to "self medicate" or just get a buzz whenever the hell they seem fit? In my opinion ...Yes.
I hope what is happening in California makes its way to the sunshine state. How great would it be to run a music/dispensary /head shop...of course it would hafta be in walking distance from a Taco Bell...but I digress :D

I was thinking of the immortal words of Socrates, who said, "... I drank what?"

LOL! I'll never forget Clinton saying that.

The place you are referring to is in Sonoma County on the Bohemian Hwy between Occidental and Monte Rio, less than 10 miles from where RiffWorks was conceived. They all fly into the Charles M. Shultz (yep the Charlie Brown one) Sonoma County Airport and take back roads almost right past our old house on the way there.
