I know a lot of people have heard of Michael Hedges and respect his work, but for those who haven't...please check out the link below. I bought "Taproot" in 1990 and I was hooked! Absolutely one of the most talented musicians I've ever laid ears on.

Unfortunately he died in a car accident several years ago, but he made lots of music to carry on. I just started listening to him again recently and forgot how much I loved his stuff.

Check out "Taproot" and "Oracle"...

P.S. He REALLY influenced Kaki King also...she's amazing!

...and along that same line, here's another phenomenal fingerstyle player named Andy McKee, you've gotta watch this one to believe it:

First time I heard Michael Hedges was on a Wyndham Hill Guitar Sampler - was one of his tunes from Taproot, I've been a fan ever since.

I get McKee, but not Hedges. Maybe I just need to give Hedges more play time. McKee is mesmerizing.

Definitely give Hedges a second listen...because of the fact that he died 10 years ago, it's harder to find quality live stuff of him on YouTube, but I promise you, the albums are amazing.

Stanley Jordan always made my jaw drop too:

Tommy and Phil rock. I remember when I was 15 seeing Phil Emmanuel at a folk club. He could express humour on the guitar ... hard to describe. He was accompanying a fok singer and had the audience all laughing with just the cock of an eye brow and some weird lick pulled out at the most opportune of times.
