The best band I've heard lately is them RiffLink Junkies.. I seriously get amped when I hear a killer original and it drives me to "move my personal bar" up a notch.

I still say Lennon was/is a music God. And Harrison's guitar work and writing were really never given the praise they should have been. So Beatles is the best band ever ever ever. BTW> If you haven't located and downloaded the complete beatles in PDF form (all songs / tab / chords /lyrics)- then you are missing out on a valuable resource (IMHO). At 1152 pages long - it takes a while to load.. I won't leave a link to it but searching google with keywords "Beatles Complete PDF" will find it no problem. Now let's do a cool Beatles tune!

Very tough one indeed..............................

Metal - All time fav. Black Sabbath (first 5 albums), Sepultura (with Max Cavalera) Newer- Lamb of God, Chimaira, Unearth, Slipknot, Children of Bodom

Mandatory- Beatles, James Brown, Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin, Hendrix

And I'll have to agree with Muddhole on the Soggy Bottom Boys! lol Man of Constant Sorrow is one of my fav. tunes.

This is an ever changing list, the staples always remain but I've been hearing some pretty kick ass new metal bands these days (about time!!!) Ask me in a few months and I'm sure I'll have different answers

I like a lot of different bands and styles of music. But whenever I listen to this particular group, it always stirs up some great memories. So I guess I could call this my favorite.

Hey, Dragonforce isn't cheesy. Herman Li has great taste when it comes to instruments. He's one of the only guys out there that realizes the potential of the S470 with a ZRtrem! Since getting mine, I rarely bend notes with my left hand anymore....

Hmmm, favorite band eh? That's a toughy. So many people have already mentioned so many greats. Rush is up there, as is Boston, as is Kiss, etc, etc, etc.

But to pick the best? That's tough. Of course, the undisputed "greatest band in the world" is Tenacious D. I was there when they played the greatest song in the world (not that cheesy tribute thing) and it truly was the greatest. But I'd hesitate to say that they were my personal favorite. And then again, there was Men Without Hats.

I guess I'd have to say it comes down to either Zeppelin or Floyd for me. Just going on sheer volume of music that I enjoy, it would be one of those two.

HOWEVER! If Dave Mustaine and James Hetfield met in a dark alleyway, MY money would be on James! And he looks alot cooler than Dave when he holds his guitar too.

Funny. Ask some guy on the street what his favorite band is, and he'll tell you. Ask a musician, and you get "uh, well, uh, this band, and that band, and that band before that guy left and joined that other band, and then that one band that had the chick playing the bass and singing with that guy from the other band playing guitar. But my favorite, would have to be that one band, before they started shooting up heroin, etc, etc, etc, etc...."

"I think the problem might have been, that there was a stonehenge monument on stage in danger of being crushed, by a dwarf". "I really think you're making a big thing out of this". "Making a big thing out of it would have been a good idea".

The first Hendrix song I heard was "Fire". I hope I never forget how the guitar and bass and drums worked together on this song. Talk about rocking your world. That was the beginning of a whole new musical experience (no pun intended) for me.

If I could only put a dozen songs on a CD or iPod and that's all I could listen to for the rest of my life, it would be Pink Floyd.

I never really liked Floyd much when I was younger but the last 3/4 years I have really gotten to appreciate them, Gilmour in particular. Definitely a *great* band.

`Great gig in the sky` is probably my favorite floyd song.
