What I'm reading here is that I might get better results with the X3 or something else; is that right. Anyone know how the Toneport Studio UX2 stacks up in terms of performance?

The changes are mostly subtle but you WILL notice a difference in fidelity. That said, I think you've achieved some AWESOME guitar tones with your current setup ;)

Do demo it. It got some really serious tone. but would like a review from some of you guys.

No! Don't demo it :O It may end up costing you $300!! I did and it's haunting me now. I think it's the best amp modeling software out there. Save me from G.A.S.

Amit, you are NOT helping here ;)

I had a guitarport, then the toneport UX2, and finally the X3L. Each was an improvement from the previous interface....but I really noticed the jump when I went to the X3L. I have had no need to search for anything else since.

Not only did the guitar tones sound better, everything sounded better. I have said it before, I will say it again....right from the Line6 site tech specs:

- Studio-quality 24-bit A/D and D/A Converters and 32-bit floating point processing

Using dual tones for recording is awesome. Take your favorite amp, in my case the 5150 model. Select your cab of choice, one side with a 57 on axis, the other with a condenser mic, man it sounds lush. Mess with effects on one side, combos of effects on both sides....the sky is the limit.

Have I sold you yet? :)

nice pedal, but not something for a bigfoot like me! the jacks will get jacked up in no time. lol

btw you know if you have a podxt lying around and not being used as the recording interface, you can use it's midi capabilitiees to control any amp sim or daw features.

mmm..i am getting some new ideas ;)

Interesting idea, but still only good for the PC. No competition for the X3L, but a cheaper way to connect and record.

I'm still nonplussed about the IK Multimedia stuff. With all the IK stuff I've tried, there's been so much latency that it's basically not even usable. Line 6 has all the software and hardware figured out, and no latency - everyone else is just playing catch-up when it comes to modeling.

Thanks everyone! The more I look the more indecisive I get.......there is soooo much bleep out there.

I think I better stop.lol

I'm thinking X3 is the way to go. Like pooterpatty said, Line6 has it all figured out, and I've been super happy with my Line6 gear so far.

This forum kicks ass for help and information!

There's no doubt that Line 6 is SOLID all around! Great tones!! The mediocre A/D/A converters are the only real weakness and that is a MINOR difference that few will know about or appreciate at the end of the day. The hardware is decent quality and will easily get you where you want to go. Some of us just need to complicate our lives to keep things interesting ;) It's splitting hairs at some point and the margin of return for investment of money (and headache) is not always worth it. I still question the need to spend as much money and time as I do on gear

Poots, the IK Multimedia stuff is hit and miss for me. Some days I think it's the best modeling I've ever heard and other days, it sounds like complete garbage! Yes, latency is more of an issue here as well. Also, I've discovered popping and clicking when the buffer is set too low whereas Line 6 doesn't even hiccup.

All said, I'd stick with Line 6 unless you have an insatiable need to experiment. So it is...I guess I like the drama :D

Well that is the beauty of tone direct monitoring on Toneports, you can set the buffer really high and it does not matter because you are hearing a different signal. And an X3 does it's own processing so no issue there.

I hear ya Rich, and I agree 100%. The A/D/A converters ain't the best on the Line 6 stuff, but unless you've got ears like a newborn wolf pup you probably won't notice a difference.

The big thing for me is that it just works. Almost ALL of the non-Line-6 stuff I've tried suffers from bad latency, and while Line 6 hasn't corrected the problem, they've found a detour around it that is transparent to an idiot like me.

All I know is I plug it in and it works and there's no discernable latency. We guitarists tend to gravitate toward instant gratification (at least I do), so the Line 6 stuff can't be beat.

There's actually been several quasi-scientific studies where they brought grammy-winning producers in to listen to samples recorded with real mic'd tube amps and Line 6 models, and 9 times out of 10 they couldn't tell the difference. That's good enough for me :)

Well........I've got my POD X3 Live!!
Now, what the hell do I do with it?!?! lol

It's a pretty f'n sweet unit, but it's gonna take a bit of time and programming before I get the full use out of it. So far I love it, can't wait to really use it.
I plugged one output into my Line 6 Spider 30 watt, and the other into my Crate BX 160 watt bass amp........WOW, my guitar has never sounded better!

I also finally upgraded to RW Standard..........about F@#kin time I know.
I am def. looking forward to more than 4 tracks!

Thanks again for everyones help!
