crackles and pops

I use a Line 6 Tone Port UX1 on my Laptop (Athlon dual core 1.9, 2gb RAM, Vista). Over the past couple weeks I've been getting the odd pop or crackle when recording or just listening to music. It really sucks when recording as it interupts the timing.

I have tried listening to music through the computers normal audio output and it works fine, seems to be the UX1.

Just wondering if anyone knows a setting change or something that might help this problem?

Thanks
Kyle

the prob is in the chipsets, try changing your latency to a higher setting! or mabey running in 16 bit . intel ich9 chipsets have known probs with line 6, if you consider changing software and hard i recomend stealthplug or pedal. i feel confident that u will be succsessful with that!

I second the adjustment of the buffer....bump it up one notch or two an see if that helps.

I sometimes get really crackly / poppy sound (fixable only by an application restart) that seem to have a high correlation to occurrences of me fuxoring with the mixing levels of layers.

Thanks for the tips! I hope to have time tonight to try out the buffer settings, if that doesn't work I'll try out a hub.

Also try to lay off the Rice Crispies while you're recording ;)

In my case I tried a whole new audio interface using FireWire instead of USB...problem solved ;) :D

Also try turning off the Wireless if possible that causes glitches on my laptop with my UX2.
