I'm talking bass here of course. Anybody like flats? I'm really digging the super fast and super mellow sound jazzy sound, I think I actually play better on these flats, but the sound and feel is so different it is like playing a whole new instrument.

Also wondering about half rounds.

I used flat wounds once, I loved the feel but couldn't live with the reduced tone.

I see. But I've got a humbucker the size of Texas and a big fat bridge. There is some loss of high end though, and they do sound flatter, but super smooth.

I'll definately try the half rounds next, if these ever wear out.

Thanks for the compliment.. :) look forward to collabing with you again soon!

I have to admit though, the flats aren't much for getting that cool "funk" sound that Josh and Robby have... and they aren't very good for slap bass either.. although I guess a good bass player could prolly get them to do just fine.. me?.. not so much.. hahaha

I'm a fan of the flats. But I as well think certain styles need the brighter sound of the rounds on bass.

Anybody use flats on their guitar?

I have 2 guitars that I always use flats on, the Jaguar came with these lighter gauge flats that I can't find anywhere (fender brand 11's). I have to piece those together as the 3rd string is too heavy on most sets. I absolutely love 'em.

I also use flats on a Gretsch holler body. I use 12's on there, here again the 3rd string I usually buy lighter singles.

Plus the flats last 50 times longer.

Yay flats!
