I've said it before and I'll say it again - Line 6 did their homework, and they came up with what is still (IMO) the best combination of hardware and software for killer tones and ease of recording.

yeah everyone pretty much covered it..... I use an HP core 2 duo 1.8 mhz with 2 gigs ram. No issues with RiffWorks at all. For the most part, you can get one of these for around $400 (refurbished) or $500 to $600 new with up to 4 gigs of ram out of the box!

I second to watch woot.com and sellout.woot.com -- they sell 1 product per 24 hours, until it either sells out or 24 hours is up --- switches at mdinight CST. usually about once a month they have a refurb laptop for sale -- lately mostly netbooks though which would not work for us.

Another thing to watch is BestBuy.com -- they have a link for "deals of the week" which starts over every Saturday night at midnight CST. Check it at mdinight and if you want to get the product do it right then because the best deals are sold out within an hour or 2!! (edit: that would be midnight saturday night into sunday morning...)

good luck!
