Substantially, in fact! Waves software (notoriously known for their high prices) has GTR3 on offer for $135 now :O This plug-in does NOT work with RiffWorks so be aware of that but this does make things very interesting...

We saw Guitar Rig 3 drop their price 50% too. I think that steep competition (look at how much amp modeling software is out there now!) and the availability of really good free plug-ins have been more responsible than a bad economy. The good news is...we get more sounds for less :D

Any thoughts on this?

If anyone is interested in GTR3 and wants to know how to make it work with RiffWorks Standard it can be done. This thread explains how using "Chainer" VST Host: http://www.sonomawireworks.com/forums/viewtopic.php?id=7764

thing is tho, that waves isnt as good as line6 for this stuff. they had a "1 year giveaway" for their amp software. I turned it on once, and never used it again. it sounded like crap compared to line6 modeling.

The AcmeBarGig stuff is excellent, I use it 90% of the time. I use all amp sim plugins all the time.

I tried using the AcmeBarGig stuff but when I open the Suite or the Preamp, I get a strange hiss. Is there any way to use a De-esser or something to stop the noise?

A lot of these free amp simulators don't have Cab emulators ....so you will need to use impulse's.

So if you are getting an undesirable sound with these free amp sims.....you probably are getting a DI tone with no cab sim at all!!!! ;)

I don't know, I have never had much of a problem with hiss using it. Some of the heavy presets have some hiss and noise but thats fairly normal when you start adding distortion and stuff. It's clean settings are clean hiss free though.

I might also add I use MultiFX which is loaded first then I load the plugins through that. It allows me to chain different plugins together and to have my tuner loaded at all times so I can make sure im always in tune... :)

You don't want to be in tune Stu, all the wrong notes are your fault then !!! ;)
No-one remembers what you do or say. Everyone remembers how you made them feel. Allegedly !!!!
