THE ONLY STRINGS TO USE!!!! ever!!!!! i REPLACE MINE ABOUT EVERY SIX MONTHS LOL....SOME GUITARS HAVE GONE OVER A YEAR !!!!!!!! :D

I pay about $50 where I live here in Whittier from a guy who used to work with the Tech from Randy Rhodes.

what do you guys think about these string cleaners etc in market?.
Do you use any?

I bought this ghs fast fret thing once, and although that made strings smooth, the new strings lost the bite/crunch whatever you call it. Haven't used it since on new strings.

Thats stuff really works good if you like to keep on top of cleaning your strings after every gig. Prolongs the life of the strings when you take off all that sweat and dirt. Haven't used it in awhile and just wipe my strings after gigs now, but it is good stuff.

Ernie Balls never did me wrong. I use .009-.042 Super Slinky's for my Ibanez and .011-.048 Power Slinky's for my strat.

My 17 year old son learned how to set em up and is pretty damn good at.. He's pretty anal about how his guitars sound so he takes his time and makes sure its right before he gives it back... so my tune ups are free.. :) kids ARE good for something besides empty'n my bank account...

I use fast fret daily. Good stuff. Remember to wipe it off really well after using is the main thing.

I use ernie ball super slinkys and power slinkys on my electrics. On the acoustics I use Martin Marquees.

I tried Fast Fret once, and the cloth applicator thingy started to disintegrate as I wiped it on, so my strings were covered with lint - never used it again. I like to use this stuff called Finger Ease. It comes in a spray can - I'll use that along with a clean handkerchief. I do recommend cleaning your strings, even if you're using coated strings like Elixirs. You'd be amazed at how much glibbage is on your fingers even when they look clean.

I like the D'Addario XLs too for the tone they give, but I agree they die way too quickly. Elixirs last forever and never get rusty - they just slowly lose tone instead of rusting, so you're not in danger of getting tetanus :)

Not fast fret, finger ease! Works great. Comes in a spray can, just spray the length of the finger board and wipe off.

Btw, how long does the new string tone lasts on the elixir's , might as well give em a try if i can find em.

Oh yeah, the guy who sets mine up said he learned it all from a book. He even showed me the book, I forgot the name of the book but if I asked him for he would give it to me. Was thinking on doing this as well, not to save money, but just something about working on a guitar that sounds relaxing to me. Maybe I'll do it as a hobby, if it goes well, maybe I'll start making a little money on it who knows.

Yeah now that I remember, thats probably why I don't use Fast Fret anymore, as a matter of fact, I do have a can of Finger Ease in my strat case. That is good stuff too and doens't leave the lint crap.

Put me down as weirdo ( or put another tick as the case may be): I like old strings. New strings sound too `bright` or something to me.

When I started on Riffworks the strings on my Tele had been on there for over eleven years, I put some WD40 on them to get rid of the rust and when I played it I slid off the end and fell arse over tit off my chair
No-one remembers what you do or say. Everyone remembers how you made them feel. Allegedly !!!!
