Btw, how long does the new string tone lasts on the elixir's , might as well give em a try if i can find em.

It depends on how much you play. For me, a set of D'Addario XLs (great strings btw) last about two weeks before they're so grimey and rusty that I can't bring myself to play them. Elixirs last for months. So yeah they might cost twice what a normal set of strings does, but when they last 5 - 10 times as long, well hell...you do the math :) In other words, if a normal set of strings last you 2 months, then you'll probably only need two sets of Elixirs for the whole year :)

Another thing I've noticed (and any of you that have used Elixirs can either back me up or tell me I'm crazy) is that when you have a guitar that has points where the strings like to bind (the nut and string trees are famous spots), the coating on Elixirs seems to help with this.

NO!.. your not crazy Pooter! I'll back you up here..What your saying is very true, these Elixir strings are superb. I've been using them for a while now..Elixir 9 gauge(Nano's) and they last for months, like you said at least 6 months(2 Packets a year..YAHOO!!) and i they hold there tonal quality too. The coating on them does eventually come off but only after rigorous playing...but what i like about them is when i use a bottleneck on them, awesome tones and very smooth also.....So what i would say to all the folks, is if you don't give these strings a go...You gotta be Crazy!!!!. But i suppose we all have our own preferences regarding our string choices.

Cheers

Ian.

just one thought before i buy a set off elixirs i understand that the tone lasts longer.
i have one question!
my strings lose in tension after 2-3weeks.
i have to change strings after a month or the strings break!
is it the same with elixirs?
it`s never to late to change your mind

Haven't had that problem with Elixirs Trik..I usually slacken off and clean all my strings after playing keeps them out of tension and just retune before i play( old and good practice i have used for years). But what i found with these Elixir strings is that i have never noticed any signs of rust on them and i have never had a breakages since i started using them where as i used to get breakages with the standard nickel strings.Elixirs are a very good quality strings may'be a bit more cost wise but well worth the money..I would highly recommend them...But like i said we all have our own preferences when it comes to strings.

All strings will last as long as those stinkin' Elixers. Only if you take care of them properly. I'm surprised at how many people like those strings. I can't tell you how many complaints I get from people saying that their third string breaks all the time. Even after a couple weeks playing! And I've been hearing about this for years!

Never liked them, never will. I always recommend the new EB Titanium Coated strings (even the plain nickel strings are coated and you don't get that with Elixers!) to those who like coated strings, and as far as I know, everyone's been digging them! Even the guys who used to sware by Elixers now use EB coated strings.

Besides, I love changing my strings! I think it's one of the best things about being a guitarist! :D

No need to get all worked up over a set of strings,we all have different choices in strings, guitars etc.

Yeah I love to change my strings too..I just replace them with another set of quality Elixirs....ta ta!!!!
