I have locking tuners and a rolling nut(keep the jokes to yourselves!!) But I still wrap the strings a few times for extra staying power!!! lol! ;)

Ermmm? Wrapping the string defeats the purpose of the locking tuner but you sound killer so what do I know?

Not a bunch of wraps...lol..just a few turns as I have found that the lighter gauge strings will still slip with locking tuners....so I will pull them nice and tight give a couple of turns and lock them down....probably doesnt work lol....just a stupid guitar player and his stupid ways...LMAO! ::D:

Wrapping the strings .....gives more sustain(more string thru body wise)....I use Sperzel Locking tuners....and had gotten lazy (no wraps) but Rick Andrews schooled me at the 1st Junkie convention.....and he was right IMHO! I always wrap a few times now.....heck it' STILL beyond easy with the Sperzels. :) So I gotta side with Flex on this one....but what do I know? ;)

Interesting. The idea is that if you have a tremelo system, less wraps means less chance for snags as your pulling the string back and forth and better tuning stability.

50% of my main axes (OLP Wolfie , Strat) have a trem......other 1/2 are hardtails (Tele, Les Paul) ...... for me ....it still holds true..... but like I said......what do I know? ;)

2 years ago....I might have agreed with you.....but now .....well ......... :P

Well Sperzel and Schaller both say it's a no no, but if theres no trem, theres no need for it anyway.

Uhhhhh...not true!!!!! Do you think that string don't move when you bend them??? I bend the bleep outta mine...and locking tuners do indeed help!!! I will never play a strat without them....tuning nightmare...any guitar for that matter!!!! Three things need to be in harmony for true guitar tuning goodness !!!! Those three things are Bridge, Nut, and Tuners!!!! Thats why I have a rolling nut and graphite saddles on my strat as well....and I never molest my strat with the whammy bar lol BTW!!!!

I will mos def be looking into those rolling tuners Flex............don't have 'em yet on any of my guit-fiddles.....string-bending, no doubt has to come into play.....if you don't bend strings.....then what Schaller and Sperzel says is probably true..... :)

Well they are designed as an alternative to the dreaded locking nut, which in fact does kill sustain. I just do what the manufacturers tell me, as I feel they are the authority on these matters.

Ahh sorry. Every guitar is different I suppose. My old Tele never had them, and it never went out of tune ever. Solid as a rock. I don't have any experience with Strats but I want to get one. The roller nut sounds genious.
