This new product looks promising for situations where your band needs to practise or rehearse quietly. The drummer would obviously have to be playing an e-kit. And all of your guitar/bass tones (stomp boxes, PODs, etc) would have to be set-up before you plug into this unit.

Pity it doesn't get a pc recording interface until you get to the $500 version :(
No-one remembers what you do or say. Everyone remembers how you made them feel. Allegedly !!!!

yeah this is a very novel idea for rehearsing bands. I'd be curious to find out what bit-rate it is outputing to the usb/computer or flash drive. Haven't found those specs yet on the website.

This could be accomplished with some creative use of other mixers and stuff, but this is way easier for each band member to just plug in and control their own mix with not much in the way of a complicated setup.

I have always had problems with "volume wars" in my band experiences, usually the overall volume is set by the loudness of the drums, then compounded by each instrument trying to get over the drums and each other. In my experience, when my bands started getting into these "volume wars", I just turned my guitar DOWN and stood closer to my amp, until everyone else said "yo dude, we can't hear you!" - to which I would reply, "huh, maybe you should turn yourself DOWN then?"

--never was fun however you sliced it.

I think this is a really cool product in concept. Certainly not worth it for me as I don't have a band, but if I ever did start "gigging" again (at 38 yrs old probably not going to happen) - I would want this in my house for band rehearsal without a doubt. If this product was out 20 years ago, I would have been all over it because of the whole "volume war" thing that prevaded over all of my bands rehearsals over the years!

very cool idea from this company!

The inventor of the JamHub (JamHubSteve) answers some questions from a group of drummers on this forum about recording specs (the tourbus model records 16bit - 44khz), "volume wars between band members", using it in a live situation....which it is not really designed for, etc.

Hey thanks MTG!

This thing really does look cool for rehearsal situations, with the ability to record your jams so you don't miss any "music magic" that tends to happen in the middle of a jam session. Very cool!

Someone on that page touched on the subject of getting used to a perfect mix. Might not be a good thing when you do actually play out. You get used to having that perfect mix in chaz' living room, then when you hit the stage, your personal mix sucks again.

But yeah, seems like a neat concept at least. I'd like to see the pod or toneport do something like this. A four-input (simultaneous) device that gives you 1/4", xlr, and stereo ins so that you can all plug in at the same time. Each input gets its own instance of gearbox so you can take advantage of bass tones, guitar effects, vox pres, etc. Then, of course, you each get your own mix in the end.

Get enough people coming to Junkie Live and you never know, these folks may arrange that the junkies can use one for a day or two. Word of mouth advertising is great.
"I think the problem might have been, that there was a stonehenge monument on stage in danger of being crushed, by a dwarf". "I really think you're making a big thing out of this". "Making a big thing out of it would have been a good idea".

Hey - I sent an email to the jamhub people to inform them of our topic here. Maybe they will get on here and answer more questions.

I got an email back from jamhub - the dude uses riffworks he said and will jump on this forum in the next few days.

I think this product is very cool. A good solution to low volume jamming and I could see it being put to use as a solid quick way for musicians to dial in their personal headphone mix when recording in the studio.

I think I'm finally in.

I had a a bunch of "challenges" logging in the last few times. Any questions guys? I noticed some folks have asked questions on our forum, but I can swing by here from time-to-time and check in.

MTG ... this is one of my favorite parts of the JamHub jam sessions I've had with my bands. AND that we can keep on playing late into the night without disrupting the whole house. We played one night until 12:30 AM ... on a school night! What a hoot.

Hey all,

Great forum! Just downloaded RiffWorks T4, too - very cool! Looking forward to digging into it a little deeper...

Just checking in here to introduce myself. I'm the Director of Customer Services at JamHub. I'm also a life-long, grey-bearded six-stringer/singer playing 3-6 gigs per month in a couple of different bands, both of which rehearse often in my basement. If you have any questions, concerns, comments about JamHubs, fire away and Steve and/or I will be glad to help...

Peace,

Chuck
