Haven't heard anything yet but sounds very promising.
John & Dave will make an awesome rythym section. I've never been a huge fan of Foo Fighters but think Dave's drumming is pretty sweet.

Does anyone know if there are songs out there yet?

I've said it before and I'll say it again: That Dave is one lucky (and talented) SOB.

I don't know - I heard a song "paved death" and was not impressed at all. I was expecting it to be good!

The song paved death is not The Crooked Vultures as far as I can tell, just one of a few fakes out there.
Here is the only official release that I can find from the band itself. It's a 14 second clip of audio on you tube. Nobody Loves Me and Neither Do I.

Still don't know when the album is coming out. I think it's gonna be killer!

I'm actually excited about this one - way more than I was about "Chickenfoot". Maybe it's because I'm a huge Zeppelin fan. Maybe it's because I hate Nirvana but I secretly think Dave Grohl is a great songwriter. Maybe it's because I love droning chromatic stoner rock with a killer groove. Could be all of the above.

YOU HATE NIRVANA!????? I always thought of Nirvana as droning chromatic stoner rock with killer grooves myself!

Maybe so, but they didn't have John Paul Jones. They had that freakishly tall guy who looked like he was just a little touched in the head :)

HAHA, that's true! Actually, I've always heard a connection between Nirvana tunes and FF tunes. I wonder how much input Dave had on the Nirvana stuff sometimes. I've always been a bigger fan of FF than of Nirvana though. Grohl's just got talent ya know? I once saw a vid on youtube of him playing a little cheapy kids drum set and he was rockin that thing.

AND, he does that cool bouncin swayin thing when he sings and plays guitar. No-one else has ever really done that (that I know of at least). He's an innovator. I probably wouldn't have him over for dinner if my kid was gonna be around (f f f f ffn f ffn ffn ff ff) but he's got talent for sure.

yes, dave is awesome!

Nirvana - mixed bag for me. "Bleach" was a HUGE influence on me when it dropped in the late 80's. I used to see them play with 5 bands for 5 bucks!!!!!! Bleach had a raw heaviness that I don't think many bands had accomplished before or since.....

When "smells like teen spirit" came out, I really felt sick. It was like the coolest, rawest, heaviest band (that I knew of) had sold out for pop-rock! Looking back on post-bleach era of Nirvana (or their entire career as most people know them), I can see why they changed their sound so dramatically..... they wanted $$$MONEY$$$$ !!!!!

Dave is an extremely talented dude and I look forward to this new release. I could care less about Josh, but if those guys roped in John Paul Jones, you know it must be something excellent coming our way!

Incesticide, and to some extent, In Utero, weren't bad either in the sense that they lacked the ridiculous `sheen` of Nevermind that Kurt himself despised.

At the end of the day Kurt actually liked pop music and IMO wrote some good little tracks in that vein.
