I agree. The man lived a good life, and left his mark like no other. Think about it, through HIS work, we are gathered here in the first place.
The man invented multitrack recording and electric guitar for Gods sake! As far as I'm concerned, the two biggest innovations in popular music in the last century. It's rare enough to catch glimpse of ONE amazing world-changing stroke of genius in a lifetime, let alone two.
I never met the guy, but every time I saw him on tv or whatever, he always seemed to be a nice guy. And he's jammed with just about everyone under the sun. Anyone who's anyone has jammed with Les Paul at some point or another. I know a guy here locally (Barry Richman, awesome guitar player) who's had the chance to sit down with him and jam.
Nobody wants to die. But man, it would sure be nice to know as I was leaving that I was directly responsible for so much innovation and progress in the world of music. I'm glad that the LP will always bear his name. I can't imagine it being called anything else.
"I think the problem might have been, that there was a stonehenge monument on stage in danger of being crushed, by a dwarf". "I really think you're making a big thing out of this". "Making a big thing out of it would have been a good idea".
