As announced a while ago, I'd love to create a "Comfortably Numb" cover. Now I've created a rifflink that contains the whole Karaoke backup, including me having already played a version of both solos. Let me tell ya that it took me at least 20 takes until I came up with one that I halfway liked!

So what I'm really looking for is for one or more of you to sing this fantastic song for me - I really don't mind many of you singing in some sort of a "Band Aid" style :-) But at the same time, I'd love to challenge you to play a great 2nd solo - IN ONE GO!

It's not as long as it looks and nowhere near as long as David plays it on the "Pulse" disc, but it's a bit longer than 2 minutes. Can you do it? It can be frustrating - more than once I liked my first 60 seconds, then totally ran out of inspiration during the 2nd half and had to ditch it altogether and start anew. But it's great fun!!

So... who's in??

I would love to show you how to play like Dave but as you know, I'm kind of busy at the moment ;-) On a serious note, this is a great idea RB!

My personal favorite among Gilmour stuff is the highly underated guitarwork (3 solos + instrumental stuff) on Dogs (the Animals album).

Dogs solo 1: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jwM-v-zmF-Y
Dogs solo 2: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GwmILt9oETw
Dogs solo 3: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VsjHwKF1PS8

Yeah!

Sounds fun.

Note to self: steal time machine, learn guitar, come back 50 years, play epic 2 minute solo on CN.

Sounds fun. But I have some work to do for JoJo first. Try and get in by the weekend.

You might wanna check back - Colin has already left a smokin' one! I'm sure there's more talent out there :)

I took a single shot at the part two solo. It was fun trying to dial up a sound for it, but Colin's and Red's are much better. If you ever do Another Brick In The Wall then game on!

...and here's the first result:

There will be at least one more, with vad1er's vocals and my solo. And I need to replace this one with a version with a less aggressive delay on the vocals...

And another rendition, with vad1er on vox and myself trying to be Gilmour-esque:

Thanks so much, guys...

This was really cool RED... Hey Can we do another one? Pink floyd is one of my alltime favorite bands. I can use the midi to make the drums just about any one of them you want to do.

vad1er, my man... I'd love, LOVE to do "On the turning away". That's a song that, on a downbeat day, literally makes me cry...

Hey RedBaron, any chance you could post the RWS you made of that backing track somewhere?

Sounds like a fun song to jam out on.

I'd just pop on rifflink but my net *sucks arse*

I only just managed to download the set of free IDs that come with RW.

yo losty - you can get the backing track here:

http://guitarbackingtrack.com/play/pink_floyd/comfortably_numb.htm

All I did was add strumming guitar. The backing track is not perfect though. I have a strong feeling that the weird keyboard arpeggio behing the first solo is absolutely wrong.
