Getting ready to go to the TAXI Road Rally in LA, NAMM, and some other events, and started to think about who I might get to meet. Has anyone met any famous musicians, actors, or sports stars in daily life? If so where? Were they nice?

I have seen a few famous people in daily life, but never talked to any. Have met some famous musicians at concerts and music events.

I used to work at a grocery store here in Franklin, TN called Publix. I would see people like: Darryl Waltrip (NASCAR legend and a very nice guy),
Carrie Underwood (not very nice person, at least while shopping),
Faith Hill (haven't met her, just seen her),
Kevin Mawae (NFL player),
Scott Hamilton (ice skater),
Jeff Fisher (NFL coach),
Jessy James & Sandra Bullock,
Oh and... Ty Tabor! One of my fav guitarist! Really, really cool guy!

I would love to meet Mark Tremonti and Tom Scholz, though.

I've met many famous people working sound in seattle and Maui, Hawaii in the 90's and early 2000's. President Clinton for one (re-election campaing "concert" at the paramount in seattle) -- BB King, Willie Nelson, Los Lonely Boys (working sound in Hawaii) - Matt Cameron (soundgarden, Pearl Jam) - Ben Shephard, Chris Cornell (soundgarden) Peter Cornell (chris's brother), Christ Novaselic (Nirvana) - Mark Arm (Mudhoney), Tad, Screaming Trees many, many indie bands - too many to even remember but examples are Zen Guerilla, Fu Manchu, Nebula, King Missle, Modest Mouse, String Cheese Incident - so many jazz musicians, folk singers, ethnic bands that are famous in other countries even more that in the US, most of the names escape me....... god there are so many more!

-oh yeah, Kim Thaile (Soundgarden - think that's how to spell his name) -- Jerry Cantrell (Alice n' Chains) -- I'll think of more

pretty much all of them were nice. I only met one famous person who's name I have blocked from memory who was a complete A-Hole - he had some hits in the 80's or something. I had no idea who he was, and the dude started treating me like I was a his personal assistant and swearing at me. I told the guy I didn't care what flash in the pan A-Hole he was and to go F himself and left him high and dry with no soundman. Don't even remember his name.

Tony Dorsett Dallas Cowboys HOF runningback at a Mazda Dealership. He was picking up his car. Extremely friendly and talked to my kids about sports and was very encouraging. Great Guy. We never asked for an autograph.

Mickey Mantle came into my Hamburger restaurant one afternoon between Lunch and Dinner with his brother. We asked if we could take a picture as we had many sports figures and locals pictures that frequented the place. He literally yelled at us "Don't start this s@$t" Which was OK he was a child hood hero of mine but we probably should have left him alone. It was fun however when his burger was ready shouting out, "Mickey Mantle your orders ready" over the microphone, with no one in the restaurant. :)

Mark Cuban owener of the Dallas Mavericks. I used to work for him in the late '80s and early 90's. Great guy on a personal level. Never slept and very very smart. My kids were born when I worked for him. He would sign basketballs for our elementary silent auction fund raisers.

Dunno, in England it's what people make tea with, what did you think it meant then ??? ;)

A tea bag is a small, porous paper, silk or nylon sealed bag containing tea leaves for brewing tea. The bag contains the tea leaves while the tea is brewed, making it easier to dispose of the leaves, and performing the same function as a tea infuser. Some tea bags have an attached piece of string with a paper label to the top that assists in removing the bag while also identifying the variety of tea.

Gotcha Bill.....it's just that teabagging here in the states has a completely different meaning :P

I was driving through downtown Atlanta one time and pulled up at a stoplight, look over at the car next to me and who do I see but Elton John, driving himself around in a little Jeep. Someone later told me that he owned a condo or condos in the city.

Oh yeah, back in the 80s I met Sorrel Booke and James Best (Boss Hogg and Roscoe from the Dukes of Hazzard TV show).

When I was a kid (many moons ago) I was excited to meet Jay Silverheels a.k.a Tonto. Wow, that was cool!
