Besides music, beer is my passion, especially India Pale Ales. And since we have folks spread across the globe I'd like to get feedback on IPA's from your area or wherever. Right now I am into a great one brewed right here in Kansas from the Tallgrass brewery in Manhattan, KS. Hard to believe but it compares with the great ones like Anderson Valley's Hop-Ottin, Victory Brewing Company's Hop Devil, or Stone IPA in San Diego. Cheers!!! RICK

My favorites are hoppy bitter ales and heffewiezens. Sierra Nevada Torpedo is a great IPA with an intense hop flavor if you like that sort of beer. I don't always go for IPA though, frankly, because the alcohol is so high. Anderson Valley is nice too and not to far away. You can find it on tap around here.

IPA = Gets you smashed really quick! So don't go thinking it's some beer snob thing. I now deem this thread over 21 only.

Not aimed at you at all, or anyone. Just stating a fact. You have to admit there is a stigma towards microbrew drinkers like we are some kind of wine drinkers or something. I'm the last one who would ever order a chocolate stout or something, but a big bold American IPA, now we are talking.

lmfao @ "some kind of wine drinkers or something"

Gourmet beers for the win! I've actually had a chilli beer before which was quite tasty.

Bob and I played a micro beer fest this weekend. They featured a cask aged Sculpin IPA. The regular Sculpin IPA got 2nd in the great american beer fest in Colorado a few weeks back. The stuff is nectar... Harder than hell to find though (unless you hang out with bob).

They had like 50 micro beers on tap, hand pump, and Nitrogen fired (like guiness creamy, cascading joy). They had a nitrogen fired Double IPA that made your tongue beat your brains out. Another trend that seems to be emerging is these oatmeal stouts that are aged in old oak whiskey barrels. Chocolaty with hints of coffee and bourbin.

And for those prefer the lighter fair they had some insanely good pilsners and lagers. All in all an outstanding day. Maybe Bob can get some the pictures our friend Mario took. Chicks, tunes, and beer... That's how we roll.

In my book the Hoppier the better... hops make me hoppy.
