RIFFRUMBLE IV SONG CONTEST

In September 2006 Sonoma Wire Works hosted RiffRumble IV to celebrate the launch of RiffWorks (v2) guitar recording software. This song contest was sponsored by Line 6, CD Baby, and Drums On Demand. Check out all the great songs on the submissions page.

AND THE 3 WINNERS ARE...

POPULAR CATEGORY WINNER: "WINTER BREEZE"
Rich Konkler got the most overall votes from the public with his song
"Winter Breeze". We would also like to give an honorary mention to blueseydude for his excellent song "Walking 2", which came in second.

A few words from Rich: "I live in the beautiful but baren Casper Wyoming. I have messed around [with guitar] for probably 10 years, but took a long break. I started getting serious in 2003. I have been in a few bands in my days but mostly behind a drum set. [To create my winning song I used] pretty much just RiffWorks and my trusty Schecter C-1 Classic. I did little final touches with Adobe Audition, but the recording and mixing was done with RiffWorks. I have been using RiffWorks since February of 2005 and I agree with everyone here - it is wonderful for recording with! A great product indeed!! I'm a Line 6 junkie! LOL I have owned a Guitarport, TonePort, and XT Live! All since 05. I would like the Bass Expansion Model Pack from Line 6 for my prize! As far as InstantDrummer Sessions, I own Heavy Core, Heavy Core 2, Hyper Dry, Slammin Half Time Groove, Matt Sorum Metal Head, Roomy Metal Band, Pop Anarchy, Marching and Moshing, Gas up and Go, Thuddy Snare Ballad and Train Coming. There are so many good drummers in the store...[for my prize] I have chosen Great for Strummin, Groovin Odd Time, Odd Time Slink, Off Beat Verse, and Organic Wood Groove. They just sounded like some really nice sets."

CONTESTANTS CHOICE CATEGORY WINNER: "THE PEPS"
This is Krister's second RiffRumble win. He won RiffRumble III and now he has been chosen by his fellow contestants to be a RiffRumble IV winner for his song "The Peps". Since he won the CD Baby prize last time, he is giving that prize to the runner-up in this category, Martin Silz, for his song "Do You Really Love Me?"

Krister had this to say: "I'm stunned and very happy to be winning a second time and I would like to send a BIG THANK YOU to all RiffWorks users that voted for me. You rock! I'm really happy to be winning again as great things seems to happen after a RiffRumble win. Last time I ended up in Guitar Player magazine! The win in Riffrumble III also inspired me to create some more songs in RiffWorks - this song "The Peps" was made just after I won last time. I'm a member of a top-40 band called PartyProviders doing gigs at weddings and parties. Also I have a myspace page. For my song I used GuitarPort/RiffWorks, Variax 500, Epiphone Les Paul & Digitech Whammy pedal. My favorite Line 6 Model Pack is the FX Junkie pack since you can get a lot of weird and inspiring sounds out of that one. Since the Power Pack is the only model pack I don't already own I would like to have that as a prize. I would say that right now my favorite InstantDrummer Session is the Heavy Core drummer which is what I used in "The Peps". For my InstantDrummer Prize, I would like Like 70's Funk, Off Beat Verse, Slammin Half Time Groove, Roomy Metal Band, and Hyper Dry."

DRUMS ON DEMAND CHOICE CATEGORY WINNER: "SLEEPING"
Congratulations to Richard West! Drums on Demand chose his song, "Sleeping" as the best overall song in RiffRumble IV. They also want to give honorable mentions to "The Peps" by Krister Karlson for being a great instrumental song and "Sailing Away" by Chip Gall for being a great song with vocals.

Richard West spilled these beans: "I live in Baycity Michigan. I've been playing music for 20 years. Currently I'm playing with a couple buds of mine working on an all original cd project. For the song Sleeping I used a PODxt, G&l Legacy with active EMG'S and a Fender P-bass. I've been using RiffWorks for about 5 months now and I think it's a great way to get your ideas down quickly and easily with a nice workflow. I puchased RiffWorks version 1.1 from Line 6 then crossgraded with Sonoma Wire Works to RiffWorks Standard, and have not once regreted doing so. Great user friendly program. My favorite InstantDrummer Sessions would have to be Half Nelson. As far as a Line 6 Model pack probably the collector classics because I guess I am old school when it comes to tones. My InstantDrummer session prizes would have to be Heavy Core, Heavy Core Too, Marching and Moshing, Slammin Half Time Groove and Krupa Esque for some diversity. Thank you so much!"
