What is the RiffWorks Line 6 Edition?

From Guide

Jump to: navigation, search

Sonoma Wire Works' RiffWorks Line 6 Edition was released in 2004 as a bundle with a Line 6 GuitarPort (a.k.a. RiffTracker), and sold as an add-on for the PODxt and TonePort family of products. RiffWorks Standard was released in 2006 to work with more ASIO and CoreAudio devices (including Line 6 devices).

RiffWorks Line 6 Edition has been discontinued. RiffWorks Line 6 Edition v2.2.2 users are encouraged to upgrade/crossgrade to the more robust RiffWorks Standard v2.5 through sonomawireworks.com.

The only difference between the RiffWorks Standard Download sold on Sonomawireworks.com and the RiffWorks Standard Download sold on Line6.com is that Sonomawireworks.com bundles the IK Multimedia AmpliTube 2 Live VST Effects Plug-in. Line 6 does not bundle IK's AmpliTube 2 Live. Line 6 Pod Farm, GearBox, and any other installed VST Plug-ins supported by RiffWorks work great with RiffWorks Standard.

RiffWorks Line 6 Edition was available from Line 6 as a $99.99 downloadable add-on for GuitarPort, Pod XT, Pod XT Live, PODXT Pro, Pod X3, Pod X3 Live, Pod Studio (UX1, UX2), TonePort (UX1, UX2, KB37, DI-S/G and GX).

GuitarPort RiffTracker is a bundle that includes our RiffWorks Line 6 Edition software and a GuitarPort. It is available from many dealers for approximately $189 street price.

RiffWorks Line 6 Edition includes most of the same features as RiffWorks Standard, 8 InstantDrummer sessions (Standard includes one additional drummer), song posting and collaboration. The main difference between the two versions is RiffWorks Line 6 Edition works with compatible Line 6 devices only and is keyed to one hardware device at a time. While RiffWorks Standard works with the same Line 6 devices as well as other ASIO and Core Audio devices, and is not keyed to hardware, so you can switch between multiple devices easily. Also RiffWorks Line 6 Edition does not include or work with IK Multimedia's AmpliTube 2 Live plug-in like RiffWorks Standard does. RiffWorks Line 6 Edition does not export to .wav or record at 32 bit like RiffWorks Standard.

RiffWorks Line 6 Edition is supported by the Line 6 support team. The Sonoma Wire Works support team and forums are helpful resources as well.
